Research overview
The Health Psychology Research PhD is for anyone who is interested in carrying out research in order to study psychological factors or processes relevant to health and illness.
We welcome applications for a PhD in a variety of research areas.
On this research programme you will study intensively in the area of your choice, under the supervision of experts in the field. Research projects are usually either placed within the relevant research group or managed as collaboration across groups.

International collaboration
Your work will be supported by a dedicated postgraduate environment, which is informed and, in part, sustained through active international collaboration and cutting-edge research that is relevant to a range of careers.
Our division has a department at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and is a member of the Topic Centre programme in occupational health and safety for the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. It hosts the Centre of Organisational Health & Development that is a designated Collaborating Centre in Occupational Health of the World Health Organization. It is a founding member of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology and hosts its journal, Work and Stress.

Average starting salary and career progression
90.1% of postgraduates from the School of Medicine secured work or further study within six months of graduation. The average starting salary was £31,086.*
* Known destinations of full-time home postgraduates who were available for employment, 2016/17. Salaries are calculated based on those in full-time paid employment within the UK.
