Course summary
Specifically designed for students who have previously completed a Foundation Degree in Hearing Aid Audiology at Aston, or a similar course at a recognised UK institution. You’ll gain direct entry into the final year of our BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Audiology) course where you will learn a blend of healthcare sciences, audiology, clinical practice and applied research methods. Once qualified, you’ll have the opportunity to work to positively impact people’s lives, from education to the workplace, helping them make the most of their family and social lives. Healthcare scientists in audiology work in hospitals and health clinics, assessing people’s hearing and balance, and managing conditions such as hearing loss, tinnitus and balance disorders. They deal with people from all walks of life and all ages, from new-born babies to elderly people and work in multidisciplinary teams liaising with medical, education, and research professionals to provide the best care for patients. Enjoying interaction with people and having excellent communication skills are essential. During this final year course, you will study a series of taught modules, whilst continuing to be employed by your audiology employer. In addition to carrying out routine audiology practice, your employer MUST arrange your placement access to the specialist areas of vestibular sciences and paediatric audiology. **Key course benefits:**- Accredited by the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS) which is part of healthcare Education England (HEE) and by the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP). It is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Graduates from the course are eligible to apply to register with the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS), Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists and the Health & Care Professions Council.- 1st in the UK for graduate salaries three years after graduation in Allied Health courses (Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) data, 2020). - Opportunity for those already working in audiology to expand their career options.- 2nd for Research Quality (Aural & Oral Sciences, Complete University Guide, 2021).- Access specialist facilities and equipment including clinical skills laboratory and computerised patients.

GCSE/National 4/National 5 : C
GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy with a pass. Must achieve Distinction in Foundation Degree Audiology, you will be required to provide your transcript as part of your application. If you have passed your Aston foundation degree achieving a specific grade upon completion not meeting our entry requirements, then grades will be determined by our admissions team upon review of your current CV, references and full application.
