Course summary

The Spanish language element of the course can be taken at beginners’ level or is suitable for those with an A level or equivalent qualification. Beginners take an intensive programme of language instruction, and post-A level students take a language course designed with their prior experience in mind. The two strands merge in the final year and our students achieve degree-level competence in Spanish regardless of their starting point. Your language studies will be enhanced by access to our outstanding range of facilities, such as our self-access Language Learning Centre which houses extensive resources for independent language study. While you develop your language skills, you will also take options from three core areas in politics: comparative politics, international relations, and political theory. You will learn to compare political institutions and behaviour in liberal democracies and to apply political concepts to key social issues and issues in world politics.
