Course summary

Our BA History and Literature (including foundation year) will be suitable for you, if your academic qualifications do not yet meet our entrance requirements for an undergraduate course, and you want a programme that takes you to the right academic level as well as improves your academic skills. This four-year course includes a foundation year (Year Zero), followed by a further three years of undergraduate study.Improve your understanding of both history and literature, and investigate the ways in which the two subjects integrate. Your history modules focus on the modern period, specifically on the social and cultural changes affecting civilians, social groups and regions. We also encourage you to respond to Arthurian Literature; to edit never-before edited sonnets from the 16th century; and to hold history in your hands by working with our valuable collection of original books from the time of Shakespeare. There is a range of exciting options to choose from in both departments, and you can decide the focus of your third-year dissertation.
