Course summary

Think philosophically and analyse the events, ideas and individuals that shape our past and help us better understand our present. Question some of the myths, preconceptions and prejudices that surround History and Philosophy. You’ll analyse historical events and political systems from the Middle Ages to the modern day, all while considering how societies function in a range of geographical locations. Pursue your passions and tailor your degree with a wide range of specialist optional modules that span a huge chronological range and most of the globe. Lead the discourse in a department at the forefront of philosophical discussion and debate. Join a vibrant and supportive community where you'll receive one to one support on coursework and access to talks, cultural trips, podcasts, quizzes and celebrations. You’ll be assessed in different ways to suit each module. At the start of a module, you’ll be told how and when you’ll be assessed. Methods will vary but may include coursework (e.g., essays), group or individual presentations and projects, exams, reports or computer-based assignments.
