**Why History and Philosophy (with placement)?**Our History and Philosophy degree enables you to examine events and developments which have shaped our world, exploring fundamental questions about what it means to be human. You’ll investigate and interpret evidence and ideas to understand individual, social and cultural identities, as you develop as a philosopher and historian. Our strong local and international partnerships with museums, archives and philosophical groups mean you’ll benefit from insightful guest lectures as well as placement and field trip opportunities (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details). Previous destinations have included the USA, Canada, India and Spain, as well as a range of UK locations, offering the chance to gain invaluable practical experience working with historical documents and artefacts. Drawing on the expertise of our academic team, you’ll develop much sought-after skills in research, critical thinking and communication, while also building a deep knowledge in your field. There are opportunities to match your studies to your own interests and ambitions, specialising in subjects such as British, European, American and Soviet history, as well as in philosophies from Ancient Greece to the digital age.
