This degree covers historical periods from the early medieval era to the present day, focusing on diverse regions such as the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.Each module is informed by the latest research from our expert tutors. You will connect historical study to contemporary issues, exploring themes such as:- conflict- politics- the environment- religion- social attitudes- consumerism- gender and identity- health humanitiesYou’ll develop a host of transferable skills, including presentation, organisation, teamwork and leadership making history graduates highly employable.On this History degree at Nottingham, be guided by research specialists as you travel back in time and discover, debate and reflect on the past. You’ll delve into past events, values, systems and societies, and the evidence we have on them, and you’ll be introduced to a wide variety of approaches and methodologies that can be used to help us understand, explain and interpret historical phenomena.You are offered choice and specialisation to foster your intellectual interests and passion for history. This is achieved via our distinctive Nottingham Approach which supports your transition to university and progression through your degree.

All students within the Faculty of Arts can select ‘Engaged Arts’ modules where you’ll approach real world challenges across contemporary themes such as sustainability or equity and justice. These modules have been newly designed to help you gain the skills and analytical abilities that employers are looking for.

You can also access this course through a Foundation Year. This may be suitable if you have faced educational barriers and do not expect to meet the entry requirements for direct entry to a degree course.
