**Course overview**- On our BA (Hons) History course we’ll give you the in-depth knowledge and skills you need to become a historian.- During this course you’ll get to explore modern British, Irish and world history. You’ll acquire a deep historical knowledge and understanding of different periods of history in various parts of the world, exploring cultural, diplomatic, political, public and social angles.- We’ll give the skills you need to become a professional historian. You’ll get to discover and analyse evidence and put forward your own arguments and interpretations.- Some modules will cover the broad sweep of history, while others are specifically focused on particular historic events and key figures. Other modules will give you an insight into careers in museums and heritage.**Why study with us**- You’ll get to take on the Community History Project, which involves working on a live project brief with a real client.- Opportunities to go on placements with host organisations such as the People’s History Museum, the Lancashire Museum Service or a school.- You’ll also have the chance to get involved in international volunteering projects through the University’s Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership (CVCL), with some modules accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).**Further information**On this course you’ll benefit from our Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership (CVCL) which enables you to get involved in projects which make a positive difference to people’s lives. They offer a range of volunteering projects in the UK and Internationally so you’re bound to find something that inspires you.
