Course summary

Please note that due to COVID-19, this course will initially be delivered via a blended learning approach, which may include face-to-face learning in the classroom, remote learning off-campus and digital learning. When delivery is taking place on-campus, there will be reduced student numbers and physical distancing measures in place.

This course is aimed at those who wish to gain employment as an early learning and childcare practitioner. This sector is expanding and demand for qualified early years staff is set to rise. The course will provide the student with a wide knowledge of the factors which influence children's care and their learning and development. Students will gain an understanding of the principles, values and legislation underpinning early years practice. The course also provides opportunities to relate theory to practice with a practical placement for two days each week, which will give candidates the opportunity to see first-hand how early years settings operate.
