Course overview Develop fundamental and specialised research skills across the dynamic fields of immunology and immunotherapy. Understand the complexities of the immune system and utilise this knowledge to manipulate immune responses and treat disease. Conduct research to tackle infectious diseases, advance treatments for cancer and develop therapies for autoimmune disorders. Course highlights By pursuing our MSc by Research you’ll gain high quality research training that will enable you to conduct independent Investigative research with confidence and expertise. Research within the department is focused in three areas: Immune Regulation Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Gut and Liver Inflammation Birmingham is ranked 76th in the QS World University Rankings 2026, maintaining our position in the top 100 universities globally. By studying this programme you’ll become part of the Graduate School within the College of Medicine and Health giving you access to: Supervision from leading academics to support you through your research programme including research techniques and training.
