Course summary

Gain a qualification in Information Technology (IT) and you could work with computer-based technology, integrating communications with computer networks to benefit organisations in the public or private sector. We aim to give you the knowledge and skills to help organisations identify their IT needs and then design, produce and operate computer-based information systems. During your studies we’ll give you the opportunity to gain a thorough grounding in the principles of IT, that includes: * Using technologies, such as, Visual Studio, ASP.NET and SQL Server. * Developing web and database-enabled applications. * Exploring contemporary theory in modelling and interface design. The focus is on giving you the skills to perform in a graduate level information systems position, and prepare you for a career in this dynamic area of computing. We want to give you lots of opportunities to put what you’ve learnt into practice and we work closely with industry. You could also spend a year on placement, which could really help you develop your experience and your contacts. British Computer Society (BCS) accreditation is awarded to courses that provide a foundation in computing. Accreditation also gives you a potential advantage when looking for a job as some employers may ask for graduates with accredited degrees. Please visit the BCS website for further details about accreditation - (http://www.bcs.org/) This accreditation is reviewed on a regular basis. Additional costs: On this course optional field trips may be offered to destinations in the UK, which you would need to pay for if you choose to attend.
