OVERVIEW

The Graduate Diploma (GradDip) in Integrated Community Nursing is an innovative programme designed for nurses working at level 5 of the Career Framework for Health (Agenda for Change Band 5 equivalent) in district nursing, care home nursing, prison health and general practice nursing.

This programme provides core theory and practice-based modules for effective nursing practice and will build knowledge, skills and competencies to meet the needs of nurses working across different community settings. This part-time two-year programme of study will enable flexibility and support you to learn at a time and place that suits you.

Students secure funding for this programme through NHS Education for Scotland (NES) after being nominated by their health board or employer. Please ensure that this funding is in place before making an application directly to the University.

COURSE DETAILS

The GradDip Integrated Community Nursing comprises of five modules.

All modules provide the new knowledge, understanding and skills needed for Integrated Community Nursing.

There are four core modules and one option module in year two so students can tailor their learning to their role and/or interest. Two twenty credit theory modules will be delivered each year, with each module building on existing knowledge and facilitating student learning and development.

In addition to these taught modules, a forty-credit work-based learning module would be undertaken alongside and would span both years of the diploma to help you gain and evidence experience and practical learning that will fit around your work and personal commitments.

On completion of this GradDip you will have developed a range of new knowledge, understanding and skills in integrated community nursing to enhance your current role or prepare you for future study.
