Course summary

The course addresses both the theory and practice of intelligence analysis. You will study theories of intelligence alongside an introduction to the use of software relevant for intelligence analysis in the digital age.You will: - Study current, real-world events of international significance and importance.- Gain the transferable knowledge and skills desired by employers in the intelligence sector, in both the public and private sector.- Learn from a team of academics who are recognized, published experts in their fields and whose teaching is informed by their own research expertise. Your first year is designed to introduce you to key concepts in intelligence studies, the digital skills needed for effective intelligence analysis, and to provide you with knowledge of global affairs and international relations since 1945.In your second year you will take four core modules which will continue to develop your knowledge of issues related to intelligence and of its practical application. You will also choose two options from a range of choices that will allow you to develop your own interests and explore new topics.In your third year you will complete a dissertation, or work-related project, on a subject of your choice. This is your opportunity to develop your ideas and research on a topic that you have selected. The dissertation counts as two modules. You will also take two further core modules and choose two modules from a range of options.
