MSc International Festivals and Event Management provides a high quality vocational, personal and intellectually challenging education for those wishing to enhance their knowledge skills in festival and event management in a global setting. This is the perfect postgraduate degree for those who aspire to a career in the area of management across a range of global festivals and events. The growing size and dominance of festivals and events around the world means that companies and organisations are continually seeking individuals with the knowledge and capabilities of managing various aspects of this fast growing and dynamic industry. Emphasis throughout International Festivals and Event Management is therefore placed on developing a range of professional, managerial and transferable skills that are aligned with an extensive knowledge of management disciplines applicable to tourism today.

Learning Environment and Assessment

Assessment includes reports, essays, presentations, seminar papers and for those completing the Master of Science Programme, a Dissertation or a Management Consultancy Project. All of these are designed to relate to current momentum and challenge of the Festivals and Events Industry.

Students who complete the taught element of the programme, in part or in its entirety, may graduate with either a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in International Festivals and Event Management. Students wishing to complete the MSc in International Festivals and Event Management must complete the research element, which comprises of a Dissertation or a Management Consultancy Project. Full-time students will normally complete this in the three months that follow the taught element, whilst part-time students complete this during an academic session.

Work experience opportunities are available for students during non-teaching time within a range of different roles in the service sector management industry. Students are expected to secure their own work experience with a suitable employer with the support and guidance of the School.
