Course summary
At its heart, International Relations, is a discussion - at the individual, state and international level - it is about power within a global context. Its breadth allows for the development of student-oriented specialisms. State and non-state actors are examined through theoretical and practical lenses. Issues concerning security, war, terrorism, humanitarian interventions, the environment, the economy and how governments communicate are key areas.Politics is a subject that confronts issues central in everyone’s lives. Politics at Chester is both theoretical and applied. It is about decision-making, conflict resolution and power. It explores the role of the state, government and institutions both domestically and internationally. Politics at Chester asks how we structure society and how society structures us. Moreover, it presents opportunities to engage with and critique ideas, as well as to apply theories to actual situations using case studies and scenarios.
