Course summary
This unique Masters programme is aimed at students with an interest in international social work and global social policy. The course will provide advanced knowledge about the theory and practice of social work and social policy in an international context. Students will be encouraged to develop a critical understanding of global social issues and relate this knowledge to developments in the context which is relevant to them, which could be their own country or profession. First, it seeks to develop a conceptual and theoretical understanding of global social issues, with a particular focus on the role of social work and social policy in addressing poverty and inequality and promoting human rights, social justice and social development. The programme also aims to prepare students with a knowledge and understanding that will enable them to work in a variety of different social work and social development settings at local, national and international levels.
