Course summary

Working in travel and tourism is not a typical nine to five job, you may be in a position where you have to work long, unsociable hours; it requires stamina, dedication and resilience - but it can be so rewarding. The demand for high-tech, quality products and services, innovative and sustainable options, eco-friendly practices and multimedia engagement is significantly changing the travel and tourism industry. The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Travel and Tourism Management is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals, able to meet the demands of employers in travel and tourism. They provide a stimulating and challenging programme of study of the visitor economy that combines both subject knowledge across a range of multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks and industry experience that is both responsive to the interests and needs of students and employers. At Level 4 students develop a broad knowledge and awareness of key aspects of travel and tourism through five core units, which include one unit assessed by a Pearson-set assignment.
