Course summary
Our BA Italian Studies gives you advanced Italian language skills together with an in-depth understanding of Italian culture and society taught by a range of specialists within these fields. We also offer a linguistics pathway for those interested in the history of the Italian language and its dialects. Language courses are taught by native speakers and involve comprehension, translation, grammar and oral work. You will spend your third year studying or working abroad in Italy. You can choose to complete work placements or teach English in schools as part of the British Council assistantship scheme. Alternatively, you can take advantage of our popular Erasmus exchanges, which include Bergamo, Bologna, Cagliari, Ferrara, Macerata, Naples, Palermo, Perugia and Siena.
