Course summary

How will Brexit affect the UK economy? Will uncertainty in the US economy impact global markets? Whether you’re reporting on the latest Wall Street scandal or local businesses you can be the bridge between economics and the general public, providing a strong insight into the economic factors that shape the world around us. Our BA Journalism and Economics teaches you to analyse economic decisions and data, discovering the best way to share this information with the rest of the world. This is a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge of economics whilst developing your journalistic skills, and to develop an array of transferable skills across both areas of study. A wide spectrum of economics topics, ranging from analysing financial crisis to international trade and policy, will be combined with the practical journalism component of this course. You use multi-media channels such as radio, television and online media, and deepen your knowledge of journalism on an international scale. You spend your third year studying abroad allowing you to experience other cultures and languages, to broaden your degree socially and academically, and to demonstrate to employers that you are mature, adaptable, and organised.
