Course summary

Being the first of it’s kind, you will study the core law modules to get your qualifying law degree but with a specialism in climate justice. Expect to explore legal rules, principles, reasoning and ideas in comparative, social, political, economic, historical, philosophical, and practical contexts while being encouraged to apply this in the context of struggles and debates on climate justice. By reflecting on the core law modules with a climate justice perspective, you will be armed with the tools to interpret legal scholarship through the lens of environmental and climate concerns. In your final year, you’ll work closely with a NGO or civil society organisation to design and conduct a 'Climate Justice Research Project’ with the aim to produce a research report of publishable standard. If you’re seeking a career in environmental and climate law and policy, looking to work for environmentally focused civil society organisations or you view law as an important site of social and environmental change, this could open the doors you’re looking for.
