Course summary
The Law and Finance PGCert is a programme offered by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS). This specialist programme will provide advanced professional postgraduate training if you wish to advance your career in the City of London, government or elsewhere in the public or private sector. It is designed for students with an academic background in law who wish to learn more about finance, and finance students who want to learn more about financial law and regulations.Taught by academics from the School of Law's Centre for Commercial Law Studies and the School of Economics and Finance.Gain access to the latest advances of applied research and develop a thorough knowledge of market-based finance and financial law.You will be taught by industry experts, many of whom advise and work with institutions including the World Bank, the IMF, the Bank of England, the European Union and the WTO.What you'll studyYou may choose one of three pathways for the Law and Finance PGCert:Law and FinanceBanking and Financial RegulationMergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Finance LawYou will select from different relevant taught modules from both law and finance. You will also undertake independent original research for your dissertation, which will focus on an analysis of the law and finance.You will have access to an unparalleled set of optional short courses to equip you with practical training and technical skills that are highly valued in the financial sector.If you want to review or gain a broad understanding of financial and legal concepts, you can attend pre-sessional modules and have access to basic statistics and statistical software.You can choose the appropriate level of study for you, as we also offer an MSc in Law and Finance and a Diploma in Law and Finance.
