Course summary

Our joint programmes allow you to study law alongside another academic discipline. Over four years of study in this programme, you will take a range of courses from both the Law School and the School of Social and Political Science.The joint LLB Law and International Relations programme aims to promote advanced knowledge and understanding of the theory, concepts and rules of law. You will also gain a broad understanding of the origins and evolution of the state system and the changing nature of state power.


What is international relations?

International relations studies actions and challenges that transcend national boundaries, and the resulting conflicts or attempts at cooperation.You will explore questions such as: How do states cope with our highly complex and interconnected world? How can we tackle problems like climate change, global economic inequality, and interstate war? Do our ideas about state power, sovereignty, democracy, justice, legitimacy, and order have to change?Guided by leading academics and researchers in the field, you will explore: the origins and evolution of the state system the emergence of global non-state actors the power of international institutions the driving forces behind international cooperation and conflict
