Our MSc in Leadership of Policing offers significant personal and professional development opportunities. This programme goes beyond traditional public sector programmes and equips participants with the knowledge and skills to adapt and lead in the complex operating environments challenging 21st century policing practice and policy. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of distance learning while connecting with your fellow candidates who bring with them a range of different experiences. You’ll be encouraged to use digital platforms for a weekly programme of study with regular support from our experts and the opportunity to debate key subjects with your peers. The course is taught and assessed entirely online, giving you the freedom to study anytime, anywhere. There is an excellent blend of policing and academic experience to fully support you in your studies.Your course is made up of a variety of core modules that work to improve expertise in the broader aspects of leadership in the police force, while giving you the option to specialise in specific areas through optional modules, depending on your interests or identified career needs. Core modules will elevate your foundational knowledge of policing to an expert level, including modules in Ethical Policing and Organisational Legitimacy, 21st Century Police Leadership and Strategy and Applied Research in Policing. Your optional modules will give you the chance to explore avenues of interest to build your career skillset, including Diplomacy in Historical Focus, Change Leadership, Terrorism in the 21st Century, and more. Your course will culminate in a final dissertation, negotiated with your tutor around your career aspirations and expertise.CareersAfter completing the MSc Police Leadership, you’ll be equipped with the critical and reflective skills, as well as a range of other transferable skills, that are attractive to employers. These can be adapted to a range of professions including, but not limited to:Policing organisations. Criminal Justice organisations, Office of Police and Crime Commissioners, National, Foreign or Defence Ministries, Armed Forces, Security Services, International or Regional organisations
