Course summary
The LPC is part of the process of qualifying as a solicitor.
It builds on the law degree/graduate diploma in law, and prepares students for their work based training with a law firm.
It is an intensive, highly interactive, skills-based course. Assessment is by examination, coursework and live skills assessment.
The LPC is available in both full-time and part-time modes. The full-time course lasts one year, and the part-time course lasts two years.
The LPC is available with a Master's qualification (LLM) or without a Master's qualification (PgDip). Students opting to study the LLM may be eligible for a UK Government Postgraduate Loan.
Please note that applicants requiring a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK will not be permitted to transfer between the Diploma and LLM courses once they have arrived in the UK due to Home Office visa rules. Applicants should decide which course they wish to pursue at the time they make their visa application because they will be unable to change course once their visa has been granted. If applicant wishes to change course, they will be required to apply for another visa at further cost.
