Course summary
If you are looking for the freedom to follow your interests and passions, wherever these might take you, then Liberal Arts will be the right programme for you. You will be highly motivated, ambitious, and intellectually curious. You will want to be part of the next generation of leaders, communicators, researchers, creators and top thinkers. You will want to build an original and unique portfolio of expertise that will make you stand out from the crowd.**About the course**Liberal Arts at UEA is an innovative and challenging programme aimed at ambitious and versatile students who do not want to be limited by traditional disciplinary boundaries. You can enjoy the prospect of taking control of your studies while still being supported by a course structure. It offers in-depth learning in your chosen field of specialisation, which will constitute your major and be selected from within arts and humanities subjects. This will be complemented by the study of subjects alongside it, which will constitute your minor and be selected from within arts and humanities, social sciences, or science subjects. The course structure of Liberal Arts at UEA will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead and innovate.By studying Liberal Arts, you will be exposed to a wide range of disciplinary perspectives, theories and methods that will encourage you not only to explore in detail, but also to use, apply, and combine in analysing and understanding the complexity of the contemporary world. At the heart of your Liberal Arts degree will sit a group of breadth modules that will facilitate the development of your ability to learn from and through interdisciplinary approaches. These will focus on methodological theory and practice and encourage you to develop practical expertise in the application of multiple disciplinary perspectives when solving significant and increasingly complex problems. These breadth modules will encourage you to engage with a range of activities traditionally associated with Liberal Arts training: interdisciplinary work, systems thinking, creativity, innovation and problem-solving. You also have the option to study abroad for a semester during your course, allowing you to expand your knowledge even further in a different setting. Alongside these interdisciplinary modules, you will make a range of elective choices, with guidance toward a discipline based major (selected from within arts and humanities subjects) and minor (selected from within arts and humanities, social sciences, or science subjects). In your final year of study, alongside your elective major and minor modules, you will undertake a substantial research project that will reflect your own interests, supervised by an academic working in the same research area.**Disclaimer**Course details are subject to change.
