Course summary

This is an American-style degree, four years in length. The Political Science major offers a thorough grounding in the main theoretical concepts used in the field. You will also be introduced to the political institutions and cultures of many different countries. Through combining theory and practice you will develop analytical, research and communication skills which will assist you in solving problems, understanding complex issues and developing policies. You will develop your arguments with examples drawn from contemporary events as well as academic theory. You will have opportunities to participate in and attend conferences, as well as take part in the Model United Nations. In your foundation year you undertake a general education programme which provides a comprehensive foundation for your degree studies. From the first year of your degree, you choose a ‘major’ subject area whilst taking a range of ‘electives’ to tailor your degree to match your passions and interests. Every module in our liberal studies programme has been specifically designed for the degree, delivering you a broad-based education which engages you in critical and interdisciplinary thinking. Liberal arts graduates are well-prepared to make the most of opportunities in a fast-moving global economy.January start date - apply on our website. September start date - apply through UCAS.
