Course summary

Overview Our LLM International Law is for students with a degree in any subject, who are interested in studying global justice and developing skills needed for a career in international law, human rights or international development. The LLM International Law provides you with an exciting opportunity to understand and apply the law to issues of global concern such as human rights, conflict, the environment and refugees. The programme contains many opportunities to both understand the subject in depth and practise the skills required in the field of international law and development. Our LLM International Law also offers:
• A dedicated module on transition to Masters study, professional and academic skills and AI literacy.
• An in-work placement module with potential opportunities in our Law Clinic Birmingham City University.
• For BCU graduates, a 20% discount on fees through the Graduate Scholarship Birmingham City University. There are also opportunities to apply to our field trip to international courts in The Hague, Netherlands, work on live research projects with members of staff, and be part of our postgraduate community semesterly events. Professional Placement option This course offers an optional professional placement. This allows you to spend 20 weeks with an employer, following completion of your taught modules, and is a great way to enhance your employability. The experience you gain through your placement will allow you to evidence your professional skills, attitudes and behaviours at the point of entry to the postgraduate job market. If you choose the placement option, you will be responsible for finding and securing a suitable placement to complement your chosen area of study. You will be able to draw on the University’s extensive network of local, regional and national employers, and the support of our Careers teams. If you do not secure a suitable placement, you will automatically be transferred back to the standard, non-placement version of the course.
