Course summary
Law, like any other sector, is subject to rapid change and development. Both the introduction of a new route to qualification (the SQE - Solicitors Qualifying Examination) and advancements in legal technology shape how we at Manchester Met prepare our students to become part of the legal workforce of the future. The LLM Legal Practice allows you to develop key knowledge and professional skills to take the next step in your career, whether it be as a new graduate seeking qualification as a solicitor, or as a qualified lawyer pursuing opportunities for career development. Solicitor route If you are interested in qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales, this course will help you prepare to take the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE 1 and 2). You will study our following SQE preparatory units: Foundations and Applications of Legal Knowledge (SQE 1) Legal Skills and Legal Practice (SQE 2) These units are specifically designed to prepare you for the external examinations set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Flexible course We offer this course in full-time and part-time modes of study to make the course more accessible to all students. If you are a full-time student, you will undertake the course on an intensive basis over one year, while part-time students can spread their studies over two years. This flexible approach enables you to both work and manage your personal commitments while studying. For the purposes of the LLM Legal Practice an academic year is a full calendar year running from September to September across three semesters. Please be aware that the SQE 1 and SQE 2 assessments are run by the SRA. If you wish to undertake these assessments then you must register and pay for them separate to this course. Manchester Met has no control over when the assessments take place, the location, cost or any administrative procedures related to the SQE assessments.
