Course summary

An MA by Research (MAR) in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science allows you to take independent research at Masters level. For many, this is perfect springboard for a PhD. You will research and write a thesis of approximately 30,000 words on a subject of your choice. With close one-to-one supervision, you’ll be supported to deliver a project that meets your needs. Your postgraduate research degree provides the opportunity to explore and contribute to an area that you’re passionate about whilst also developing advanced skills in preparation for a rewarding and impactful career. The Centre for Philosophy of Religion and Theology aims to explore and promote research in philosophy of religion across a broad range of approaches and religious traditions. It currently includes nine members of staff, whose interests span all the major themes in philosophy of religion, including metaphysics of Christian doctrine, religious epistemology, Indian philosophical and religious traditions, theodicy and evil, religion and ethics, religion and politics, and religious experience and the spiritual life.
