Course summary
This course is aimed at recent graduates of comic courses and related disciplines, along with established creative practitioners who are interested in producing comic art and graphic novels.As an expanding field in academia, this course supports practitioners to develop a deeper understanding of the breadth and complexity of comic art at postgraduate level.Students will be supported to complete a major project to write, compose and create their own comic art or graphic novel while developing a strong portfolio of transferable skills in related graphic communication and storytelling. Audience will be a key element of this project, supporting students in developing professional skills including pitching to industry, publishing and crowdfunding, with guidance on accessing grants and funding.Graduates may further their careers in the industry, working as comic artists for publishing houses or as freelancers, or by applying their creative skills to areas such as digital marketing and advertising, education, publishing and digital media.
