Course Summary

This course is designed for experienced English as a Foreign Language teachers, who are seeking opportunities to enhance their professional development and career opportunities. The profile of course participants is very international, including most recently Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Mexico, Poland, Switzerland and the UK. We also run MA TESOL if you have little or no prior English language teaching experience (less than two years). This course integrates the theoretical and practical aspects of English language teaching. It aims to develop your in-depth knowledge and understanding of the links between teaching, academic research, and theories of language learning and teaching. It provides advanced training in skills for English language teaching, course design, materials development, and assessment. Our teaching methods encourage active participation in group work, discussion and exchange of ideas, with the aim of developing students’ critical and analytical skills. We value the range of perspectives that students from different socio-cultural contexts bring to teaching and learning.

Careers and employability

This career focused course is designed to provide a pathway to posts in academic management, teacher-training or materials writing for experienced teachers. We have graduates working as English language teaching professionals, teacher trainers, textbook writers or university lecturers throughout the world. Although this course does not offer a formal placement, it is a vocationally focused course which aims to help you to achieve an English Language teaching post in your chosen country.
