Course overview
Throughout the core modules, you will be encouraged to critically apply theories, concepts and frameworks in sport management. You will engage in debates and critical evaluation of the local, national and international context, enabling you to think critically about management in the sport industries.
Workshop delivery will involve critically evaluating current practice and engaging in debates with peers and lecturers. You’ll receive continual support through your studies with formative assessments, which will help to assess your knowledge and understanding.
Through choosing assessment titles related to your interest, you will be able to tailor the course towards your own specific career ambitions. Research informed teaching is embedded at Solent and is a key element of the course curriculum on this master’s programme. Staff delivering on the course are research active and have experience of working in the sector.
•Students learn from an experienced course team with a broad range of academic and industry experience.
•Critically evaluate current practice and engage in contemporary issues facing practitioners and develop skills to address these.
•With sustainability built into the curriculum, the Strategic and Sustainable Sports Management module explores the application of management and leadership theory using the conceptual lens of sustainability.
•Our dedicated Sports complex features two sports halls, a biomechnicas lab, a physiology lab, a public gym, a health and fitness and personal training teaching gym, and sport and exercise therapy clinics.
•You could publish your own research paper through learning about the processes and academic debates around doing research, planning, submitting ethics, designing, conducting and then writing your research into a written and publishable format.
•The course will equip you with research and academic skills helping you to pursue a PhD or an academic career.
