Do you want to be part of the solution to the biodiversity crisis, climate change, pollution or the destruction of the natural environment? Does the idea of solving these problems to help marine ecosystems excite you? BSc Marine Conservation is designed to train the next generation of marine conservation biologists and practitioners, preparing them with the knowledge and skills to secure a better future for marine wildlife and maritime communities.Key features of the programme are:-· A strong scientific foundation in theoretical aspects of ecology, conservation and marine ecosystems complimented by analytical skills in marine ecology and spatial marine management and policy.· Extensive experience of surveying a variety of marine habitats by boat and from the shore in and around the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.· In depth exploration of how human activities impact marine ecosystems, and how our relationships to them can be enhanced to improve outcomes for both people and nature.· Practical experience of deploying management tools employed by practitioners working within ecology and conservation.· Consideration of current contemporary issues in marine conservation.· Strong external links with local conservation organisations, government organisations and ecological consultancies.· Opportunity to participate in UK and overseas field courses, and specialist research expeditions.· Opportunity to participate in a HSE professional diving course and an optional dedicated scientific diving module.· Optional placement year in the marine conservation sector facilitated by a dedicated university placements team.
