Course summary

At Manchester Met, we understand that while learning to teach is exciting and fulfilling, it can also be challenging. That’s why we’ve worked with our extensive school partnership network to develop an advanced degree which is explicitly designed to meet the needs of early career teachers.

Our aim is to support you on your teaching journey, from when you first enter the classroom and throughout the early stages of your career. You’ll use the latest research to inform teaching methods and identify key areas for development.

This course has been co-designed with leading practitioners across our region. We’ve consulted widely with recently qualified teachers, school leaders and induction supporters to develop a distinctive course that is academically rewarding and professionally relevant.

This course is taught via blended learning and will travel with you as your career progresses. You’ll participate in weekly online learning activities, connect with peers, engage with pedagogical research, and design your own enquiries. Each unit also provides an opportunity to participate in a minimum of two Saturday schools.

Throughout the course, you’ll experience individual, group and peer encouragement. You’ll be part of a community of early-career teachers embarking together on masters-level study and be supported by an experienced mentor who understands the needs of busy teaching professionals.

This course focuses on professional development in the crucial early years of your teaching career.

We’ll focus on building your professional expertise and resilience and create a community and environment where you’ll be able to discuss collective solutions and resolutions to challenges you face in the classroom with fellow teachers.
