Course summary

We welcome applications from postgraduate students interested in pursuing innovative research into Film and Television from a broad range of perspectives. Our members of staff can offer supervision on a wide range of potential research projects. Our team offers particular expertise in topics that explore film and television from a religious and/or philosophical angle, or approaches from Cultural Studies Gender Studies and Psychoanalysis. More details on our expertise can be found on our research group site. MA by Research in Film can be taken full-time (1 years) or part-time (2 years). It is based on the research and completion of a research project in any field within these subject areas for which expert supervision can be provided. The resulting thesis (typically around 25,000 words in length) is defended in a viva voce (oral examination) led by an external examiner. Before making your formal application, we recommend that you discuss your proposed research with the appropriate member of staff in the School of Creative Arts.
