Overview
- Gain expertise from Exeter Climate Systems centre, a world-leading community of staff working at the frontier of mathematics, statistics and climate science
- Be taught by experts who directly contribute to global understanding of climate change and climate systems, including members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and staff jointly funded by the UK Met Office
- Gain specialist knowledge in Climate Science and learn the techniques to successfully simulate a range of mathematical phenomenon
- Be introduced to key industry-standard programming languages such as Matlab, Python and Fortran
- Undertake an independent research project where you’ll explore your interests in greater depth, with the support of an academic, where you can focus on or contribute to current research.
Careers
Mathematical Modelling underpins many areas of research and a degree in this area can open careers in a huge range of research and development roles. Your specialism will be relevant to any company concerned with our climate, from crop production to energy suppliers or environmental consultants.
For many students a masters course can also lead to further academic study such as a PhD.
