At Kent, you will be taught by internationally renowned mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries, with the industry expertise of Kent Business School lecturers to ensure you are fully prepared for your future prospects. You can put your skills into practise on a paid year in industry placement. **Why study Mathematics and Accounting and Finance at Kent:*** You will study in our friendly and dynamic school based in the multi-award-winning Sibson Building. * You will have access to industry-standard software like Maple, MATLAB, R and Python * The BSc degree is accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications * You will benefit from free membership of the Kent Maths Society and Invicta Actuarial Society * You’ll be joining a diverse and welcoming School where you are supported via seminars, workshops and employability events to make the most of your time at Kent; our student-run Mathematics and Actuarial Society organises talks and workshops, socials and networking events as well as extra revision sessions. **Course details**In your first year, you will practise the new mathematics you’ll learn, and work with other students to find solutions. You’ll study a mixture of pure and applied mathematics, statistics and economics, providing you with a solid foundation for your later studies. As you make your way through the course, you will be able to study core modules from both the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science and the Kent Business School. If you successfully secure a placement, you will spend a year working between your second and final year.
