Course summary
By studying Mathematics with a Year in Industry at Nottingham, you'll learn the many different areas of the subject and graduate career-ready. The industrial year enables you to put what you have learnt into practice in a working environment. This is your opportunity to take what you've learned and apply it to real projects in business. You will gain practical, professional and transferable skills. This will give you a competitive edge when it comes to securing your future job. Placements are typically paid and can sometimes lead to a job offer, before you've even graduated. You'll take part in an industry fair and write up a report about your work experiences in your final year. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your report-writing and presentation skills before leaving university.The course covers pure and applied maths, mathematical physics and statistics. Our lecturers are experts in advanced mathematical theories and techniques. Together with your direct subject knowledge, you will also develop wider skills in analytical thinking and problem-solving.- Core modules will build on your understanding of the fundamentals of mathematics- Freedom to choose from a wide range of exciting optional modules- Support from senior students on a range of important first-year topics is provided- Good preparation for a future career in computing, finance, engineering, healthcare or educationThere's flexibility to transfer onto the standard BSc during the first two years.
