Course summary
Explore the beauty of mathematics and develop your skills with real workplace experience. With our BSc Mathematics with a Year in Industry you’ll not only study the breadth and depth of the modern subject, you’ll also strengthen your career prospects. From theoretical maths to finance, statistics and data science, study with us and learn how maths is integral to the world around us. You’ll be inspired to develop your critical thinking and important transferable skills. You can ‘test-drive’ career options with a placement and prepare for an exciting future. We’ll help you step up to university level maths, then dive into the more advanced areas. Our expert academics will guide you to become an independent and self-motivated mathematician. Learn to solve complex problems, communicate technical content and specialise in areas that interest you. Spending a year working in industry will help you apply that knowledge, develop key professional skills and build your networks. Developing your skills as a rounded mathematician means a variety of learning and assessment methods. You will take exams and class tests, plus carry out coursework and research projects. We'll give you regular feedback and assessment, helping you to build on your existing skills. At the beginning of each module, you will be given information on how and when you will be assessed for that particular module. You will receive feedback on each assessment within 15 working days, so that you can learn from, and build on, what you have done. You will be given generic feedback on any exams that you take and can have longer conversations about your performance with your personal tutor.
