Course summary
Strongly aligned with the new curriculum in Wales, our PGCE Secondary Mathematics programme provides comprehensive Initial Teacher Education (ITE). Achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a blend of university-led training and school-based placements. Gain curriculum knowledge to teach mathematics effectively, supported by innovative sessions on pedagogy and reflective practice.Engage in a supportive learning environment, discussing current academic research and developing practical teaching skills. Experience a range of teaching environments through urban and rural placements, including Welsh-medium schools. Professional teaching experience (PTE) and mentor support are key components, preparing you for a successful teaching career.You will study various aspects of teaching across the secondary age range, including GCSE and A-Level. This programme ensures you can inspire future mathematicians with your enthusiasm for the subject. Financial support is available through bursaries and scholarships. This course has been identified by the Welsh Government as a high priority subject area, and £15,000 bursaries are available
