Course summary

OVERVIEW

Our MSc Mechanical Engineering is intended for mechanical engineering graduates (and engineering graduates from related disciplines, eg aircraft, aeronautical, product design engineering) and will deepen and widen your knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering specialist topics.

In addition to enhancing your technical skills and knowledge, the MSc Mechanical Engineering will allow you to further develop your interpersonal and transferable skills. These will allow you to function in an advanced engineering environment as a senior engineer and manager.

The taught element of the course will focus on advanced mechanical engineering subjects such as advanced fluid mechanics and CFD, applied Finite Element Analysis and structural integrity etc. However, you will have the opportunity to specialise and explore a specific subject in more detail through the master's dissertation.

Our graduates will have developed expertise to improve their employability within design and development of the automotive, aerospace, offshore, oil and gas and all main stream mechanical engineering industry sectors.

The MSc is ideal for engineers holding a BEng degree that require a further learning element to qualify for Chartered Engineer registration.
