Course summary

This course is identical to the Mechanical Engineering MEng, but includes an additional year spent working in industry. The MEng Mechanical Engineering will give you an excellent grounding in the knowledge and experience of the most fundamental of all engineering disciplines, preparing you for a variety of careers in engineering, technology, business and management. Many students find it highly beneficial, both to their university education and to their subsequent employability, to integrate a substantial period in industry within your degree. We offer you the chance to do this with a structured placement year in industry, which would normally be completed after the third year of the Mechanical Engineering degree course (with students returning after their placement to complete the 4th year of study). However, you may opt to organise your placement after the second year.During the placement year you will be supervised by the host company and your progress is monitored by the university.
