Course summary

This course has been developed to offer a balance of academic and industrial knowledge to meet the needs of key employers within the North East region, along with national and international businesses. This course aims to help you develop a range of skills, contributing to the region's competitiveness and to close the skills gap of future engineers both nationally and internationally.

The first year of this degree provides you with a multi-disciplinary theoretical, simulation and practical experience focusing on engineering mathematics, 2-D CAD and drawing systems, electrical science, mechanical science and mechatronics, along with practical hands on manufacturing experience using machine tools and fabrication.

This course is mapped against the academic requirements of the Engineering Council UK-Spec for Incorporated Engineer (IENG) status and students are encouraged to join the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) as a student affiliated member.
