OVERVIEW
This is the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Machines are getting ever smarter – able to take an astounding range of complicated decisions without human control or guidance. Our MSc Mechanical Smart Systems Engineering is a chance to get in on the ground floor of Industry 4.0. With the skills and understanding you’ll develop here, you should have everything you need to rise to the very top.
Focusing on applied skills, this new course is a unique and amazing opportunity to develop your expertise in manufacturing in the modern era. You’ll study a range of units, taking in the key technological foundations of Industry 4.0. You’ll also develop professional skills with two project management units, where you will learn the principles behind delivering innovation to industry.
In our high-tech facilities, you’ll learn to use the modern tools and equipment you’ll come across in the workplace and working with our experienced and specialist staff you’ll be ready to tackle an in-depth engineering research project that will set you apart from others.
Throughout it all, you’ll have the support of our experienced teaching and research staff, who will ensure that what you learn is 100% relevant to industry. And, with technical, real-world thinking and project management skills, you will have a proven ability, ready to play a constructive role in shaping our technological future.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Practical, independent thinkers with both technical expertise and a strong grasp of modern management techniques are in high demand across the industry. With this Masters under your belt, you could be looking to move into a role at the operational level of a company, implementing lean, best-value manufacturing.
You’ll be able to apply for jobs in a wide range of industries, including the production, process, transport, power, consumer goods, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. If you decide to continue with your studies, you’ll also be well placed to enter a PhD or an Engineering Doctorate programme.
