Course summary
We offer a challenging and absorbing experience in the study of Media and Communications taught by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff.In conjunction with a range of practical skills, students will learn how to critically analyse the way the media reflects and influences the political, personal, social and cultural landscape.The degree also offers a range of other module choices from other degrees in the department, namely: Film and Television Studies, Screenwriting, and Sports Media. This is a programme that is designed to provide critical and practical skills in preparation for work in media and creative industries. Throughout the degree an emphasis will be placed on students developing skills of self-reflection and personal development in readiness for the world of work.In the second and third year there is the opportunity to develop key skills in journalism, marketing, branding and advertising, as well as the study of film and television, popular music, and web-based technologies.Students will also have the opportunity to undertake work placement.Media and Communications offers an exciting multi-disciplinary degree which provides students with a mix of highly marketable skills and media knowledge.From 2018 the degree will be based in the University’s brand new Digital and Technology Park which will offer students the very latest media technologies in an exciting environment.
