Media touches all our lives. It’s a continually evolving creative sector in the global economy and the cultural pulse of humanity which offers vast opportunities for skilled and enthusiastic graduates.The media landscape is constantly changing, developing and adapting to both its audience, its technology and its creators. You will map it, understand it and inhabit it to become content creators and creative professionals. You will gain vital practical, professional and creative skills for employment, enterprise – and life. We will equip you with the tools, skills and experience to become a practitioner, researcher and analyst of media and culture, as well as being a confident presenter of your own ideas.You will have the opportunity to become a proficient media producer across a range of online platforms, using multiple skills in image creation; interactive and transmedia storytelling; imagineering and visualisation, all within the context of professional and creative practice.In your final year, you will apply these skills across major projects in research and production. You’ll have the freedom to pursue areas and ideas which interest you, showcasing your creative, practical and academic abilities.Real-world experience will be at the heart of your university experience, preparing you for graduate career success. You will complete professional work placements as part of your degree, working on live and challenging media projects with employers from the media industry.**Professional placements**Media students undertake a wide range of placement roles, from production assistants at independent production companies, creative designers in both web and graphics at marketing companies, to lending their social media storytelling skills to companies outside of the media world but who need relevant and professionally produced content.**Career opportunities**You’ll graduate with a range of skills that will prepare you for a career in television, film, radio, advertising, marketing and education. Many of our graduates have set up their own businesses or work for a wide range of companies, such as the BBC, Sky and ITV.
