Medical Education (for Surgeons) PGCert

This specialist certificate in medical education is designed by surgeons, for surgeons, and endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. It will help you analyse everyday teaching and learning opportunities, and will enhance your knowledge and skills as a trainer in surgery.

At the Centre for Medical Education, founded over 40 years ago by Professor Ronald Harden, we enable medical educators to reach their goals, and ensure they're prepared to train the workforce of the future.

Our wide-ranging curriculum fits around you and your working life, whether you're new to teaching and training, or wish to advance existing skills and knowledge.

You'll start with two core modules - Teaching & Learning in Medical Education and Principles of Assessment in Medical Education. These will give you a strong overview of the core concepts of medical education.

You'll then complete a specialist module that will allow you to evaluate your practice in relation to contemporary theory and principles underpinning successful teaching in the surgical context.

Following this certificate, you could progress on to our PGDip or Masters courses to further your learning.
