**Combining the scientific fields of chemistry and biology, our degree in BSc (Hons) Medicinal Chemistry is an exciting journey towards the discovery of new treatments and therapeutic agents.** Medicinal chemistry incorporates the design, development and monitoring of drugs which are essential in tackling new and exciting diseases. This course is designed for students with a strong interest in chemistry and its applications to the treatment of diseases as it integrates the range of subjects required to become a medicinal chemist. The modules covered include both the core areas of chemistry (organic, physical, inorganic and analytical) and the key areas of biochemistry and biology relevant to the discipline. We encourage all our students to take an industrial placement year, between years two and three, which you arrange with our support – making it a four-year course, overall. You will benefit from a placement by being to apply your knowledge of real-world situations to your academic studies during your final year, whilst also gaining experience that is highly valued by prospective employers.
