Designed for experienced adult nurses, this 90-week programme will qualify you to move into the challenging and rewarding field of midwifery. You will combine academic study and theoretical knowledge with excellent practical clinical experience to ensure the best care for women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip)

Who is this course for?

If you are an experienced adult nurse, this postgraduate diploma will give you a fast-track route into midwifery.

You will build on your existing professional skills, gaining the specialist knowledge and experience to become a registered midwife.


On successful completion of this diploma, you will gain registered midwife status with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, an internationally recognised professional qualification allowing you to practice in the UK and overseas.

You will be able to pursue opportunities in a range of settings including:

midwifery led stand-alone birth centres
acute units
independent practice.
