Course summary
This is a four year programme that will allow you to qualify in two fields of nursing. Your first field will be mental health nursing. Mental health nursing is a specialist professional course that enables you to make a unique contribution to the health and wellbeing of people of all ages who experience, or may be at risk of developing, mental health problems. Mental health nursing focuses on promoting recovery and improving outcomes for people experiencing mental health problems, based on the philosophy of holistic person-centred care, as well as challenging the stigma, discrimination and inequality often associated with mental illness problems.Your second field will be one of the following: adult nursing; child nursing; learning disability nursing. You will choose your second field prior to the end of your second year. To help you decide which field to choose, you will be given the opportunity to experience all four fields of nursing in your first two years.
